EU to Deploy €1 Billion “Cyberdome” Against Cyberattacks

The European Union is set to deploy a groundbreaking system to protect against cyberattacks at a cost of €1 billion. Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Trade and Services, announced the deployment of a “cyber dome” in an interview with LCI TV channel. The system will be the first of its kind to be deployed on a continental level, and will use supercomputers equipped with artificial intelligence algorithms to detect cyberattacks at their initial stages.

Creating a Cybersecurity Architecture

Breton revealed that the cyberdome would be based on cybersecurity operations centers, which are equipped with supercomputers and advanced algorithms. These will enable the system to detect cyberattacks and exploits before they can cause significant damage. The cyberdome will be connected to networks in several countries, allowing for quick detection and response to potential threats.

Protecting Against Cyberattacks

The European Union is taking this step to protect itself against the growing threat of cyberattacks. Cybersecurity has become a major concern for governments and organizations around the world, as cybercriminals and state-sponsored actors increasingly target critical infrastructure and sensitive data. Breton emphasized the need for the EU to protect itself, stating that “we need to protect ourselves” against cyber threats.

Deployment of the Cyberdome

The deployment of the Cyberdome is a major milestone for the European Union. It marks the first time that such a system has been deployed on a continental level, and it is a significant investment in the EU’s cybersecurity capabilities. The Cybersecurity Act, under which the Cyberdome is being deployed, will be officially presented by the European Commission on 18 April.

The deployment of the Cyberdome is a significant step forward in the fight against cyberattacks. With cybercrime on the rise, the EU is taking proactive measures to protect itself and its citizens. The Cyberdome will enable the EU to detect and respond to cyber threats quickly and effectively, and will be a valuable asset in the ongoing battle against cybercrime.
